Lyrically, Shawn is questioning a girl’s love for her. The girl, according to the song lyrics, already has a significant other. But, he likes her, and she has dropped a few hints that maybe suggests she, too likes him. He isn’t trying to mess up her relationship with her current significant other, but just wants to know if she, too, loves him back. He is sure his love for her is greater than her current significant other, so he is giving her this “rose”, which is a chance for their love to blossom and flourish into something beautiful, like a rose.
